Si trovano fino dai tempi più remoti in Chiusi, ove furono primieramente conosciuti con cognome Della Dea, e dove furono ascritti al gruppo della vecchia oligarchia. Possedevano un palazzo con torre, distrutto nel sec. XIV durante le lotte di fazione civile; il luogo dove sorgeva questo palazzo, compreso oggi negli orti dei Paolozzi, si chiamava e si chiama tuttora "il torrione di Omodeo o di Deo" e negli scavi fattivi nel 1852 ne furono messe alla luce le fondamenta, oltre a due stemmi di bronzo dorato nei quali, sopra i tre anelli intrecciati, arma più antica della famiglia, si trova anche l'aquila imperiale, come nello stemma oggi riportato nei Libri d'Oro di Siena. La famiglia trasportò presto il suo domicilio a Siena, pur senza abbandonare quello originario, e ivi furono ascritti all'Ordine o Monte dei Nove, che comprendeva quelle famiglie della buona borghesia mercantile che formò poi il nucleo principale
