Familia muy antigua y noble de Roma, cuyos miembros fueron investidos con el marquesado de Mompeo y el condado de Mustiolo. Esta familia dio dos cardenales a la Iglesia: Gregorio en 1634 y Benedicto, quien murió en 1832. Francisco fue Conservador de Roma en 1515, un honor que también tuvo Jerónimo en 1587, Giovanni Antonio en 1626, Horacio en 1650, Fabrizio en 1562 y otros.
