Questa famiglia, molto nota nel Trentino, a quanto stabilisce la tradizione e come fu accertato in base a documenti, da una sentenza 7 settembre 1923 del Tribunale di Novara, è originaria di Peio, nella cui chiesa parrocchiale è la tomba di famiglia, che risale al 1600. Il primo di cui si ha memoria è un Martino Nartini notaio, vissuto nella seconda metà del 1400. Uno dei suoi discendenti fu il celebre è padre gesuita Martino, che nel secolo XVI fu il primo missionario che andò in Cina e la percorse quasi intieramnete facendo importanti studi specialmente geografici sul paese. lasciò un'opera insigne intitolata: "Atlas cinensis". Hanno lasciata chiara memoria i due dottori Carlo Fabiano e Girolamo, vissuti nella seconda metà del seicento; il primo fu Assessore delle Valli di Non e di Cles, il secondo, rimase fino alla morte suo segretario. Questa famiglia fu innalzata alla nobiltà dal principe Massimiliano
