Famiglia nobile palermitana, ascritta all'ordine senatorio, alla quale appartiene, al dire del Villabianca, un Domenico marchese di Monterosato, investito nel 1726, maestro portulano del regno,ed un Tommaso investito nel 1752, letterato di merito, e portulano del regno. Altro ramo. Famiglia originaria di Lucera, dove ha goduto da remoto tempo nobiltà, che fu ascritta a quella di Trani nel seggio di S. Marco nel 1657. Ha dato in ogni tempo alla Chiesa, alla patria e allo Stato, uomini preclari in ogni fatta di buone discipline. Nella gerarchia ecclesiastica vanta di fatto un Alberto Cardinale di S.R. Chiesa, un Pietro Vescovo di Aquila, un Gherardo, ministro generale dell'Ordine Domenicano, un Protasio che ebbe la stessa carica nell'Ordine degli Olivetani, ed un Girolamo che fu uno dei primi fondatori e quindi vicario generale della Compagnia di Gesù. E son pur degni di essere ricordati un Raimondo Natale, che al tempo di Re Roberto
