Con diploma in data 12 luglio 1681 Carlo II, re di Spagna, concedeva il titolo di cavaliere a favore del dottore Antonio, dei suoi figli e dei suoi discendenti per linea maschile, tenendo conto delle sue particolari benemerenze e dei suoi illustri natali. I membri di questa famiglia furono abilitati per intervenire alle Corti Generali celebrate in Sardegna, nel 1698, sotto la presidenza del vicerè conte di Montellano. Ai discendenti maschi di questa famiglia spetta il titolo di cavaliere: alle femmine il titolo di cavalieri, seguito dal casato. Con tale titolo Altro ramo. Di origine genovese, fu trapiantata in Sardegna sul finire del XV secolo da un Francesco Nater per esercitarvi il commercio del tonno. Antonio, di lui figlio, avvocato prestantissimo, fu sindaco di Cagliari ed ascritto a quella nobiltà; Ignazio, figlio del precedente, fu anch'egli esimio giureconsulto e molto in grazia di Carlo III Re di Spagna che lo
