Nobili di nobiltà generosa, con memorie sicure risalenti agli ultimi secoli del Medio Evo, diramarono largamente, dando luogo a più linee cioé alla linea comitale che si inizia con Bernardino, investito di Selve il 15 agosto 1722, e alla linea signorile detta di Vesme, nella quale furono illustri per merito di studi, in tempi recenti, il senatore Carlo col figlio Alessandro direttore della R. Pinacoteca di Torino, e il cavaliere Benedetto, sagace ricercatore di genealogie dell'alto Medio Evo. Federico, di Filippo, di Giovanni. Figli: Matilde, Marcello, Enzo. Motto della famiglia: Fidelis custos Altro ramo. Antica famiglia del Piemento con residenza nella città di Vigone. Sono però originari di Alessandria, e quivi famiglia decurionale fino dal 1270. Il feudo di Vesme lo ebbero nel 1766 e di Belriparo con titolo baronale. Giacomo cavaliere del Tempio nel 1245. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata
