Família de Espanha originária de vila de Navarrete, entre Logronho e Náxera. Esteve na conquista de Baeça Pedro Rodrigues, que foi um dos trinta e trê cavaleiros encarregados da guarda da praça, do qual procederam Pedro e João Dias de N. e Rui Peres de N. que viveram na referida citade com outros deste apelido. Parece ter passado a Portugal alguém desta família. Consultando antigos documentos, podemos dizer que esta família é uma das mais antigas e honradas da história de Portugal. Encontramo-la em diferentes épocas e localidades, com numerosos personagens ilustres. Família originária do reino de Navarra, de qual passaram vários ramos a Portugal. Uma das famílias portuguesa usa as seguintes armas: de vermelho com uma cruz solta de veiros e bordadura cosida do primeiro esmalte, carregada de oito aspas de ouro.
