Famiglia fiorentina, originaria di Petriolo o, come altri vogliono, di Peretola, conosciuta nei tempi antichi anche col nome di Tedaldi. Da un Bortolo di Totto, vivente nel 1190, nacquero Toro, i cui discendenti adottarono il cognome Lenzi e presero parte attivissima alla vita di Firenze repubblicana, nella quale figurano chiamati 26 volte a far parte della Signoria, 21 in qualità di Priori, 5 in qualità di Gonfalonieri di giustizia: e Tedaldo, i cui discendenti adottarono il suddetto cognome e vestirono l'abito di S.Stefano fin dal 1632 in persona di Francesco Maria, di Andrea. la comune discendenza delle famiglie Lenzi e Marzichi venne riconosciuta e affermata con sentenza del Senatore Carlo di Tommaso Stozzi, giudice delegato da S.A.R., nel 1654, e con sentenza del Magistrato Supremo del 1656. Il Cav. Girolamo Giulio, di Giovani Tedaldo, fu ascritto alla nobiltà fiorentina con decreto 1° ottobre 1753 della R.Deputazione sul regolamento ella nobiltà
