Famille de Mantoue très ancienne et très noble, originaire de Ferrare, cependant, de vertu claire et ancestrale, également connue sous la variante du nom de famille Nigrisoli, qui s'est répandue au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. Selon ce que rapporte Crollalanza, ils viennent d'Afrique d'où ils sont passés à Ferrare dans la première moitié du XIIIe siècle. Certainement qualifiés dès 1393 par l'évêque de Ravenne de "Nobiles viri", en 1427 les Negrisoli sont investis par la famille Este "de fief honorifique cum mero et mixto imperio". Cette famille a également été reconnue dans son ancienne noblesse par le gouvernement papal et inscrite parmi les 27 maisons nobles de Ferrare du conseil perpétuel. La tradition veut que le premier représentant de la famille à passer à Mantoue fut un certain Giovanni Negrisoli en 1478.
