Antica famiglia originaria da Oleggio, dove godette sempre di una posizione ragguardevole. Messer Giovanni di Quirico è tra i cinque che nel 1495 sono eletti dagli abitanti di Oleggio per giurare fedeltà a Lodovico Maria Sforza. Michele, nel sec. XVI, esercita la carica di luogotenente dal podestà di Oleggio e fu egli stesso podestà i Marano; per quasi un cinquantennio fu uno dei notai più attivi di Oleggio. Nel sec. XVII Tommaso fonda, in unione col figlio Bernardo, la Domus Pauperum dotandola di largo censo. Questa istituzione doveva provvedere a soccorrere i poveri al loro domicilio per mezzo di un cappellano dell'istituto medesimo e durò fino alla soppressione napoleonica. Allora tutto il patrimonio fu diviso tra la Congregazione di Carità e l'Ospedale dove ancora si conservano i ritratti dei fondatori.
