La tradizione vuole che questa antica famiglia di Ripatransone discenda da quel Diotisalvi di Neroni esule fiorentino, morto nel 1494 e sepolto nella Chiesa di S. Maria sopra Minerva, ma mancano ancora le prove d'attacco. E' certo però che nel 1553 un ser Simone Neroni era castellano della fortezza di Acquaviva. Tommaso di Acquaviva si trasferì definitivamente a Ripatransone allorchè sposò una donna della nobile casa Benvignati e il 29 ott. 1736 fu aggregato al nobile Consiglio di detta città, facendo poi parte della magistratura. Carlo, Simone, fu giureconsulto e aiutante di studio in Sacra Rota. Pier Paolo, nato 25 febb. 1761, fu guardia nobile di Pio VI e raggiunse il grado di capitano, e reggente di Montalto. Egli con la famiglia il 15 marzo 1822 fu ascritto alla nobiltà Ascolana per aver fatto parte della Delegazione Ascolana dal 1816 al 1822. Fu fatto cavaliere dell'Angelo Custode nel
