Il Beato Giovanni, dell'Ordine Eremitano ed uno dei fondatori di esso, fu vicario generale della congregazione di Lombardia e morì in concetto di santo nel 1466. Undici di questa illustre famiglia vestirono l'abito del S.M.O. Gerosolimitano*, primo de' quali fu Aleardino nel 1444 e l'ultimo Giorgio nel 1574. Giambattista di Gian-Maria nel 1570 vestì quello di S. Stefano di Toscana. *Noto anche come "Sovrano ordine di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme", ordine cavalleresco cattolico istituito nel secolo XI a Gerusalemme; assunse in seguito carattere militare, combattendo insieme ai crociati. Nel 1191 i membri dell'Ordine si stabilirono a San Giovanni d'Acri e, successivamente, a Cipro e a Rodi, dove rimasero fino al 1522, quando l'isola fu conquistata dai Turchi, per mano di Solimano II, dopo aver sostenuto un lungo assedio ed essersi difesi eroicamente. Nel 1530 i Cavalieri ottennero l'isola di Malta, dove rimasero sino al 1798. Il papa Leone XII trasferì
