Ursprünglich aus Nirano in der Provinz Modena, zugelassen im Adel von Modena, Ferrara und Römern. Der Schwiegerarzt Antonio wurde von Alfons II. Als Kammerberater nach Ferrara berufen und verlieh ihm zusammen mit seinen Neffen Bartolomeo und Orazio die Titel Graf und Ritter. Von dem oben genannten Antonio stammt die Kontenlinie ab und marquiert Nigrelli von Ferrara, als sein Sohn Giulio-Cesare 1631 von Vittorio Duca di Savoia aus der Grafschaft Venaria investiert wurde, der am 8. Februar in Marquisate umgewandelt wurde. 1667. Er war Richter des Savi, gewöhnlicher Botschafter der Stadt beim Papst und Senator von Rom. Ottavio, Kapitän in Deutschland, trat 1662 in den Dienst des Papstes; sein Sohn Antonio war heimlicher Kellner und Cupbearer von Alfondo IV. Herzog von Modena; Bartolomeo dott. Er war 1599 Leiter der Gemeinde Sassuolo, nachdem er 1583 Herzog von Podi gewesen war.
