Lo stemma della famiglia è riconosciuto dal diploma della duchessa Maria Luigia del 13 dicembre 1820, col quale veniva concesso il titolo di barone al prof. Luigi e ai disc. m. La famiglia è parmigiana d'origine, si è nobilitata nell'esercizio della magistratura e nelle somme cariche pubbliche coperte con saggezza, dottrina e amore del bene dei propri concittadini. Il dott. Lucio nel 1749 fu nominato commissario ducale di Castel Arquato, nel 1751 fu commissario di Fiorenzuola, nel 1753 fu promosso procuratore fiscale di Piacenza, nel 1757 uditore criminale nella medesima città, due anni dopo passò a Parma con la carica di uditore civile e nel 1764 divenne consigliere di grazia e giustizia. Il figlio Luigi (1747-1834) giovanissimo fu nominato professore di diritto civile nella università patria, ove preparò e pubblicò un pregevole commento delle istituzioni giustinianee; nel 1783 fu nominato decurione legale del comune; con patente del 7 ott. 1785
