Il 5 dicembre 1393 veniva assunto a medico condotto dalla comunità di Cividale "egregius, prudens et circumspectus vi magister Nicolaus phisicus q. egregi domini Nordii de Nordis de Tarvisio" per un salario annnuo di cento ducati, più la casa d'abitazione. La condotta fu in seguito confermata a vita per 120 ducati, e il dott. Nicolò fisso definitivamente il suo domicilio a Cividale, assieme al fratello (alibi figlio) Bartolomeo, che vi aveva aperta una drogheria farmacia. Una vecchia tradizione famigliare pretende che i Nordis siano del medesimo sangue dei Nordigli, cospicua casata di Treviso, che possedeva fino dal secolo XIV i castelli di Farra e Grione nella Marca Trevigliana. Non abbiamo, al momento, elementi nè per accogliere, nè per respingere la tradizione stessa.
