Alte und adelige toskanische Familie mit Wohnsitz in Florenz, im Gonfalone Santa Croce, das sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausgebreitet hat. Der Ursprung dieses Familiennamens sollte laut berühmten Genealogen in der Apherese des Namens griechischen Ursprungs "Antinore" gesucht werden, der wahrscheinlich einem heute unbekannten Vorfahren gehörte. Auf jeden Fall erwarb diese Familie, die 1438 zum Magistrat zugelassen wurde, von dieser Zeit bis 1531 zweimal die Gonfalonierwürde und fünfmal das Priorat. Unter den Persönlichkeiten, die dieser Familie vor allem, ohne den Wert des Ausgelassenen aufs Spiel zu setzen, Ansehen verliehen haben, erinnern wir uns an: Francesco, di Antonio, di Tommaso, Opfer der Pazzi-Verschwörung, der 1470 Prior war; Francesco-Antonio, sein Sohn, war nicht nur zweimal Prior und zweimal Gonfaloniere, sondern auch Senator in seinem Heimatland und dann 1534 Botschafter bei Papst Paul III.; Bernardo, Beisitzer in San Miniato, im Jahr 1500; Francesco, ein florentinischer Domherr, der den unsterblichen
