Il celebre cardinale Enrico nacque nel 1631, e vestendo l'abito claustrale, sotto la regola di Sant'Agostino, abbandonò il nome Girolamo assunto col battesimo. Coperte varie cattedre di teologia nel proprio Ordine, Nando II Granduca di Toscana, che lo destinò professore di Storia Ecclesiastica nell'università di Pisa. Passato a Roma nel 1700, ebbe l'incarico di biblioteca nella Vaticana, essendo già stato cardinale nel 1695. Morì il 23 febbraio 1704. La sua storia della eresia Pelegiana, che gli provocò nemici ed inquisizioni sulla purità dei principi religiosi è ripetuta modello per la vasta eruduzione e per la sana critica che la correda. Nel 1697 i veronesi credettero di tributare merito alla vera e solida del cardinale, annoverando fra i nobili il nipote di lui, Cesare Noris.
