Godette nobiltà Palermo e in Messina. Un Bernardo fu capitano di giustizia di Salemi nel 1553-54; un Alessandro Noto e Diaz, canonico della cattedrale di Palermo fu nominato a 8 marzo 1663 maestro di cerimonie di Francesco Gaetani duca di Sermoneta vicerè di Sicilia; un dottor Giovan Battista, acquistò nel 1694 il feudo Petraro, del quale ottenne investitura a 4 maggio 1696; un Andrea Noto e Marsale, figlio di Giovan Battista, fu investito di Petraro a 20 maggio 1706, occupò la carica di giudice della corte pretoriana di Palermo nel 1734-35 e sposò Agnese Catalano e Guasconi, dalla quale ebbe, postumo, Andrea e Catalano, nato a 24 agosto 1741, investito di Petraro a 5 dicembre 1741 e a 27 agosto 1761 ottenne parere favorevole per la iscrizione nelle note dei nobili che potevano intervenire nelle funzioni di Corte; un Bernardino, con privilegio 10 novembre 1787, ottenne il titolo di barone
