Originario de la ciudad homónima, donde se conocía bajo el nombre de Ploti. Bertolino de 'Ploti, conocido como Novara, un famoso arquitecto del siglo XIV, fue quien, después de dibujar el plan del castillo ducal de Ferrara, estableció allí a su familia, que le dio a su nuevo país excelentes ciudadanos. Domenico-Maria, excelente matemático y astrónomo del siglo XV; Antonio-Maria profesor de derecho en la Universidad de Ferrara; Orador de Gaetano, filósofo y poeta del siglo XVIII.
