Antica ed assai illustre famiglia siciliana, di chiara e provata nobiltà, diramatasi nelle città di Mazzara, Salemi, Alcamo, ove risulta nei più alti uffici sin dal 1270, e Marsala. Nella prima città notiamo un Vincenzo, con la carica di capitano nel 1538; in Salemi, un Giovanni, che ebbe l'ufficio di notaro delle Corti capitaniali di Trapani, Corleone e Salemi; un altro Vincenzo con la carica di giurato negli anni 1559-60 e 1580-81 ed un Antonino con quella di capitano nel 1594-95; in Marsala, infine, notiamo un Giovanni, aiutante maggiore nelle nuove milizie dell'artiglieria, che, nel 1759, fece parte della nobiltà di Marsala ed un Mario, che tenne la carica di capitano di giustizia di detta città, nell'anno 1793-94.
