La tradizione fa discendere la famiglia Dal Pero dall'illustre signore Obizzo De Domo Petri, di casa Pieri o Dal Pero o Da Pera che, ritornato dalla Terra Santa con la seconda armata pisana di guerrieri colà spedita di rinforzo nella crociata di Urbano II, nell'anno 1099, andò nella città di Imola ed ivi propagò la sua famiglia detta "Casa Famiglia Dal Pero" nelle persone di Pellegrino (1179) cui successero Villebardo (m. 1209), Antonio (m. 1245), Francesco (Cecolo) (m. 1270), Tommasino (m. 1300), Nanne (m. 1350).
