Linaje de Vizcaya, con casas en la antigua Merindad de Arratia. De una de esas casas procedió la familia apellidada Ocerin-Jáuregui. Pedro de O. y Jáuregui, vecino de Durango, litigó, en 1674, con doña Angela de Goitia y con José de Ardanza, un mayorazgo fundado en 1626 por Nicolás de Urduya y su mujer doña Marina Sáenz de Yurreta. El tratadista Arévalo dice que en la anteiglesia de Ceánuri, perteneciente a la misma Merindad y partido judicial de Durango, hubo tres casas de O., sin que ninguna de ellas tuvieron parentesco con esa de Ocerin-Járuregui, usando también distintas armas. Don Juan de Mendoza agrega que una casa de este apellido radicó en la anteiglesia de Dima, incluída igualmente en el mismo partido y Merindad, y que algunos de sus individuos pasaron a establecerse en la villa de Lumbreras, del partido judicial de Torrecilla de Cameros, en la Rioja, y no en Soria, como dice el citado tratadista.
