Originally from Great Britain, called Odone or Oddoni, she was transplanted to Italy by the three brothers Baldassarre, Melchiore and Gaspare, who, having separated, were authors of the Odons of Turin, Milan, Genoa, Naples etc. A branch of those of Milan in the late fifteenth century was transplanted to Venice by Rinaldo Odoni who led his brother Guglielmo who was a hermit, a man of holy life, famous for his pilgrimages, and who was buried in S. Maria when he died from Torcello. Andrea, son of Rinaldo, from 1517 belonged to the public magistrate with the title of Cogitore alle Razonnove; another Rinaldo, Andrea's nephew, was a man of knowledge and of good letters adorned, in intimate relationships with the most illustrious writers of his time and author of a philosophical discourse printed by Manutius in 1557; Girolamo di Guglielmo was an excellent doctor in the service of the Duke of Guastalla Ferdinando Gonzaga in 1718. The weapon of this family, due to the malevolent action of time destroying the whole, did not reach us, however, to say the authoritative heraldists it is believed that it is : Of red to the golden band joined by two silver lions.
