El primitivo solar de este apellido radicó en el barrio de Olabe, en la anteiglesia de Mendata y partido de Guernica. Otras casas hubo en la anteiglesia de Bedarona, del Ayuntamiento de Ea, en el mismo partido de Guernica; en la de Vérriz, del de Durango, y en la de Jemein, del de Marquina. Todas estas casas fueron solariegas e infanzonas. De la de Jemein procedió Juan Francisco de O. Belaustegui, bautizado en Santa María de Jemein el 29 de Enero de 1765 (hijo de Juan de O. Belaustegui y de doña Agustina de Urquidi), que trasladó su residencia a Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón, del partido de Haro (Rioja) y para ello sacó Real provisión de vizcainía en la Chancillería de Valladolid el 13 de Agosto de 1801. También en Guipúzcoa hubo casas de O. Una de ellas radicó en la villa de Mondragón. El estudio del escudo heráldico
