Ancient and noble Spanish family, with main branches in Portugal and Brazil, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. This surname comes from the old Merino de Campóo, which included part of the judicial district of Reinosa, province of Santander, and part of the judicial district of Cerera de Pisuerga, province of Palencia. Its first residence was in the place of Olea, belonging to the Municipality of Valdeolea and judicial district of Reinosa. It spread through the provinces of Palencia, Burgos and Valladolid and went to Vizcaya, creating new branches. Juan de Olea, native of Olea, married Isabel de Solórzano, from Hoyos. From this union were born: Pedro de Olea Solórzano and Juan de Olea Solórzano, Abbot of the Collegiate of Aguilar de Campóo.
