Famiglia antica, oriunda di Alessandria, la quale ebbe larghe diramazione. E' memoria di un Giovanni, il quale viveva alla fine del secolo XIV, e che è lo stipite noto di questa casata da cui discesero Paolo Emilio, del capitano Agostino il quale col cugino Giulio Damiano (dec. 1677), di Alessandro, che fu medico collegiato a Milano, acquistò il feudo di Quattordio, per il quale prestarono fedeltà il 26 ottobre 1673. Paolo Emilio, che morì improle, lasciò con suo testamento del 1694 la su porzione del feudo al cugino Giorgio, di Giulio Damiano. Giorgio (dec. Milano, 23 marzo 1742), che fu senatore (1710), e Gran Cancelliere dello Stato di Milano per il Re di Sardegna, prestò fedeltà ai Savoia l'11 giugno 1707, per Quattordio; il 16 settembre 1713 fu creato marchese di Spineta e il 16 settembre 1734 fu ammesso al patriziato di Milano.
