Alghero family whose news dates back to the 16th century. A Gerolamo was a renowned jurist and tax attorney; in 1581 his son Antonio obtained the recognition of the nobility. From 1643 they were admitted to the military station and participated in all parliaments. They always held public offices of a certain importance; in 1698 a Giuseppe, a tax lawyer, bought the lordship of Planargia; his son Antonio Michele was one of the main partisans of Philip V in Sassari for which he had to flee into exile, he tried unsuccessfully to support the attempt to reconquer Spain in Sardinia in 1717; in 1715 Philip V had conferred on him the title of Marquis of Montenegro. There was no news of the family after his death.
