Famille très ancienne, originaire d'Allemagne, appelée Onigo ou Oniga, dont l'aïeul, militant sous la bannière de l'empereur, vint en Italie. Les descendants se sont installés à Trévise, où il y a des agrégats, à ce noble Conseil, depuis 1460. Depuis une époque lointaine, cette famille avait reçu le titre de comte, probablement par concession des empereurs; titre qui a été reconnu par la République de Venise, avec ducal le 12 février 1795. La famille avait alors, comme fief, les montagnes de Fosserenga et Miesna, dans la Valla di Primiero au Tyrol, en vertu de l'investiture, obtenue par SM le l'empereur Francesco, le 9 octobre 1792. Le patrimoine familial atteignit également l'extension considérable de plus de quatre mille champs trévisiens, résultat d'une sage gestion et aussi d'une savante capacité de parenté entre les familles les plus riches de Trévise et de Vénétie. La famille a été confirmée noble, avec Résolution Souveraine
