Originaria de Alemania y vino a Italia siguiendo a estos emperadores, se estableció en Treviso, a cuyo noble Consejo se unió en 1460. Cierto progenitor de esta familia fue el capitán Gualperto da Cavasio del área de Treviso, quien en 1197 se movió contra el obispo de Belluno, y le dio batalla en la llanura de Cesena, lo derrotó y lo hizo prisionero, pero perdió su vit. Su viuda Lovica Capilupi luego compró los castillos de Onigo y Rovigo en el área de Treviso, y su hijo Gualpertino y sus descendientes ya no fueron dichos por Cavasio, sino por Onigo.
