Família patrícia veneziana antiquíssima, originária de Altino, e da qual não se tem notícias desde 1544, apesar de muitas famílias que viviam em Veneza pertencerem à nobreza. No Livro de Ouro da nobreza veneziana e no patriciado veneziano, após a guerra de Candia e o Lockout do Grande Conselho de 1646, acontecimentos estes que deixaram fama imortal pelo grande sentido político e pelas virtudes da cidade, encontramos esta importante família definido como ilustre Onorai. Com base em crônicas antigas existentes na Biblioteca Marciana, e nos Arquivos do Estado Real até então inéditos, e ao contrário do que Freschot publicou em sua Nobiltà Veneta, as referidas obras são imparciais no que diz respeito à origem de certas famílias, assumidas pelos venezianos patriciado. A mesma família foi elevada à nobreza pelos excelentes serviços prestados à Pátria, e pelas oferendas feitas à República.
