It is a branch of the Orsi family that broke away as mentioned in 1639, following the marriage of Checco Orsi, with Contessina di Traiano Mangelli from which Paolo was born, a councilor in Forlì in 1715 and Giovanni Battista, who was Bishop of Cesena. From Paolo and Luciana Zauli, Giovanni was born, knight of S. Stefano on 7-11-1752, order founded by Cosimo I de 'Medici on March 15, 1562, in imitation of that of Gerosolimitano, with the dual purpose of defending the Tyrrhenian Sea trade in Italy from Barbary piracy, and to free Christians from the slavery of Ottoman power. The visit to its marinas writes the historian Galluzzi had made Cosimo know the importance and the need to watch them from the Turks' incursions. He therefore imagined that he was building a Military Order, with which he would achieve the same intent without being affected by the burden;
