Antica e nobile famiglia friulana signora da remotissimo tempo del castello di Osoppo da cui trasse il proprio nome, e che dal patriarca Gregorio di Montelongo fu confermato a Conetto d'Osopo, nel 1254. Nel 1258 lo stesso Patriarca riconfermava a Concoretto d'Osopo il castello d'Invilino nella Cargna, ove i suoi maggiori fondavano la nobilissma sua stirpe comune con quelli del castello di Nonta, Muruzzo, Cavoriaco e Villalba. Per le ribellioni, uccisioni, ruberie e scelerate azioni commesse dai fratelli Bonacorso, Berardo e Pelavicino d'Osopo, il Patriarca Pagano della Torre assediò e prese il loro castello, di cui nel 1328 investì Federico di Savorgnan. Lo stemma della famiglia Osopo è: D'argento, al capriolo di nero.
