Sehr alte und adelige Familie, seit 1081 dem Adelsrat von Padua beigetreten. Das erste Individuum, an das man sich in der Geschichte erinnert, ist Ugone, der 1113 zu den Konsuln von Padua gehörte. Diese Familie, mächtig in Reichtum und Verbundenheit, musste das volle Gewicht des Hasses und der Tyrannei von Ezellino III beweisen und machte sich selbst zum Verteidiger der alle Mittel einsetzen, um es zu retten; aber er musste seinen großzügigen Wagemut mit Exil, mit Substanzen, mit Leben bezahlen. Ostesano degli Ostesani war zu dem Zeitpunkt anwesend, als die Coneglianesi am 11. April 1233 in die Staatsbürgerschaft von Padua aufgenommen wurden; 1235 gehörte er zu den 16 vom podestà ernannten Aufsehern, um die von Ezelino bedrohte Freiheit Paduas zu verteidigen, und 1256 hatte er das gleiche Amt, um zu entscheiden, ob er die Stadt dem Kaiser übergeben sollte oder nicht, aber die Hand des Tyrannen traf ihn wurde verbannt
