Antigua y noble familia alemana, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido por todo el mundo, a lo largo de los siglos. Conocido como Ostheimer u Ostheim, su clara nobleza se ve confirmada por su presencia en algunas obras heráldicas fundamentales, como "Siebmachers Wappenbuch", del artista heráldico alemán Johann Ambrosius Siebmacher, una serie de libros heráldicos multivolumen de escudos de armas de la nobleza de la Santo Imperio Romano.
