Antiga e nobre família alemã, de clara e ancestral virtude, que se espalhou pelo mundo, ao longo dos séculos. Conhecido como Ostheimer ou Ostheim, sua clara nobreza é confirmada por sua presença em algumas obras heráldicas fundamentais, como "Siebmachers Wappenbuch", do artista heráldico alemão Johann Ambrosius Siebmacher, uma série de livros heráldicos em vários volumes de brasões da nobreza dos Sagrado Império Romano.
