Famiglia originaria di Genova, trapiantata a Napoli ai primi del secolo scorso. Con breve pontificio del 4 marzo 1853 Luigi, di Girolamo, venne decorato del titolo trasmissibile di conte, titolo riconosciuto dal governo del regno delle Due Sicilie con Regio Rescritto 30 settembre dello stesso anno. Con Regio Decreto poi 11 maggio 1857 il detto conte Luigi fu insignito dal re Ferdinando II di Borbone, del titolo di duca del Galdo, riconosciuto al di lui primogenito Antonino, con Regio Rescritto 9 gennaio 1860. Candido, secondogenito del conte e duca Luigi fu creato marchese con Breve pontificio 11 agosto 1859, e Girolamo, terzogenito di Luigi, ebbe pure concessione pontificia del titolo di conte. Detto conte Girolamo fu una delle personalità più in vista del mondo politico-amministrativo napoleonico. Fu deputato al Parlamento Nazionale, poi senatore, Ministro dei Lavori Pubblici, sindaco di Napoli e direttore generale del banco di Napoli. Altro ramo. Ramo
