Apellido originario de Álava. Es antiguo y de probada hidalguía. Tuvo su solar en la villa de Lezama, del partido judicial de Amurrio. Una de sus ramas pasó a la villa de Porcuna, del partido judicial de Martos y provincia de Jaén, quedando allí establecida. De esa rama fué descendiente Juan de P., natural de Porcuna, que en su mujer doña María de Valenzuela, de la misma naturaleza, procreó a Miguel de P. Valenzuela, natural de Porcuna, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María Felipa de Haro y de Lorite, natural de la ciudad de Baeza en la misma provincia de Jáen (hija de Francisco de Haro, natural de Baeza, y de doña Isabel de Lorite, natural de Cabra, ciudad de la provincia de Córdoba), naciendo de esa unión Diego Felipe de P. y Haro, natural y vecino de Porcuna, Alcalde ordinario en la misma villa por el estado noble y Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, en la que ingresó el 17 de Agosto de 1699.
