Originaria di Genova, e fu portata in Napoli nel 1630. Un ramo di questa famiglia prese il nome di Cornilea e godette nobiltà in Genova, dove fu ascritta all'Albergo di casa Vivaldi. La famiglia M. ha goduto nobiltà nelle città di Genova all'Albergo Usodimari, nella Savoia, ed in Aversa al Seggio di S. Luigi. Nella detta città questa famiglila possedette il palazzo dove fu strangolato il Re Andrea di Ungheria. Ha vestito l'Abito di Malta nel 1779. Nicola M. per le guerre civili di Genova trasferì la sua famiglia in Levanto nel 1450. Questa famiglia si diramò pure in Piemonte ed in Borgogna. La famiglia Rotondo Marchesi di Mascambruno nobile Beneventana, si estinse in due femmine la prima Felicia, sposò Domenico M. Marchese della Misericordia all'Acquaola.
