Tra le più antiche ed illustri nobili famiglie reggiana, detta Palù o Dalla Palude, la quale, secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, ha tratto il proprio nome da una Terra chiamata della Palude, o Palude, o Paluda, detta anche Paludano, nella parte bassa del territorio reggiano, che poi fu annessa a Mantova. Tal esimio casato era feudatario di questa terra e. da un documento del 1145, risulta che quel Castello era feudo di un Guido Palù. Da tal feudo dipendeva pure la valle di Montirone, che si trova a 5 miglia di là da Mirandola, e che fra Leandro Alberti, nella sua "Italia", dice fosse l'antica località denominato "Campi Nacri" o, forse, "Macri". Ardovino Palù, nel 1108, venne investito da Ermengarda, Badessa del monastero di Giulia in Brescia, di alcuni terre in Bedollo, pertinenza del Castello, di cui egli era già feudatario. Nel 1111, lo stesso fu nunzio della contessa Matilde
