Questa famiglia, che secondo un'antica tradizione sarebbe derivata dai conti Guidi, pare che prendesse il cognome "Del Palagio" da un vetusto palazzo di pietrami da essa edificato in faccia alla chiesa di San Michele Visdomini in via de' Servi di Firenze, poi incorporato nelle case dei Pasqui. Ebbe tre gonfalonieri e ventotto priori, e si rese benemerita per la fondazione del convento di San Francesco sul monte di Fiesole. Capostipite ne sarebbe un Lippo, che figura come primo iscritto nella genealogia del Libro d'Oro dei Patrizi di Firenze. Suo figlio Neri, de' Priori di Firenze nel 1378, e i fratelli di lui, Guido e Tommaso, furono creati cavalieri a spron d'oro e incaricati dalla Repubblica Fiorentina di importanti ambascerie, di cui rimase memoranda quella di Guido a Giangaleazzo Visconti duca di Milano, in occasione della quale, avendo il conte di Virtù domandato su che avrebber potuto i Fiorentini dar
