Tiene esta familia, que se origina en Rivarolo, de origen muy antiguo y ya tenemos noticias de ella en el siglo. XIV La genealogía, con conexiones seguras, comienza con un Peter, que vivió a mediados del siglo XVI. Se dividió en dos líneas: el primogénito de los condes de Cesnola y el segundo de los condes de Borgofranco. El último, que tenía para el marco de la puerta Giovanni Aurelio, de Gianfrancesco, quien era el bisnieto del mencionado Pietro, ahora está extinto. Asumió la rama más antigua de la nobleza con Emanuele (n. 13 de febrero de 1740, 17 de diciembre de 1814), hijo del médico y magistrado Giuseppe Emanuele y Girolama Bianchi. Cesnola lo inmiscuyó el 10 de noviembre de 1789 e invirtió el 19 de marzo de 1791 con el título del comital. Se casó (1760) con Irene Grassotti y sus hijos Alerino y Maurizio fueron suyos. Alerino
