La famiglia, fra le più antiche di Forlì, fu iscritta al patriziato forlivese da remotissimo tempo; ed è ricordata nelle storie patrie sino dal 1100. Occupò sempre nobile ed onorevolissimo stato e diede uomini che sostennero le prime dignità. Giovanni si distinse tenendo il posto tra i primi della città l'anno 1189. Nanne, di Zanne, fu uomo celebre de' suoi tempi: resse per S. Chiesa una grossa terra nel Perugino ed andò ambasciatore dei cittadini al duca di Milano, Giacomo, di Matteo, medico insigne nel 1453, tenuto in grande estimazione da Antonio I Ordelaffi, signore di Forlì, fu capo della congiura contro fra Tomaso, governatore per la Chiesa a Forlì. Tomaso, di Matteo, fu uomo dei mallavalori di Ottaviano Riarj quando sotto la tutela materna prese il governo del principato; nell'anno 1491 fu sindaco, priore e consigliere. Giovanni, di Bartolomeo, alloggiò in sua casa il vicere di Napoli l'anno
