En la provincia de Gerona hay tres lugares denominados Palol, cuyo nombre debe de estar relacionado con el de este linaje. Dos de ellos pertenecen al partido judicial de Figueres, y otro al partido de dicha capital catalana. Es lo más probable que los P. fuesen originarios de alguno de dichos lugares y que esto les llevara a tomar su nombre por apellido. Desde luego, proceden de Gerona y en esta ciudad tuvieron noble y antiguo solar, poseyendo sepultura en el claustro de aquella catedral, sepultura que data del año 1340. Una de sus ramas radicó en la villa de Peralada, y también tenía enterramiento propio en la capilla de la Trinidad de la iglesia del Carmen de aquella villa y poseía igualmente sepultura dentro del recinto de la catedral de Gerona, y data del siglo XIV. Caballeros de este linaje vistieron el hábito de la Orden de San Juan, en el Gran Priorato de Cataluña.
