Antica ed illustre famiglia, originaria del Sud-Italia, della quale sono degni di nota un Ruggero, giustiziere di Sicilia e di Calabria nel 1239; un Nicoberto, cavaliere di Milazzo nel 1283; un Giacomo, tesoriere generale del regno di Sicilia nel 14523; un Antonio che con R. privilegio 5 marzo-14 dicembre 1574, ottenne il titolo di regio cavaliere; un Vito, barone del Grano, che, con R. privilegio 19 settembre 1651-29 luglio 1652, ottenne lo stesso titolo; un Antonio che, il 7 agosto 1759, ottenne per se e i suoi il titolo di marchese; un Francesco Carlo che, il 21 marzo 1777, ottenne investitura del titolo di Duca Calvello già Ossada. Con provvedimento del 1926 sir Stefano, di Giuseppe Pamico, ottenne il riconoscimento del titolo di nobile. Altro ramo.
