Famiglia patrizia, la quale trasse origine da Musco figlio di Giovanni viventi nel 1060, e fu ascritta ai sedili di Scala e di Trani. Fondò in Scala la chiesa di S. Andrea detta di Pondo presso il proprio palazzo, alla quale assegnò cospicue rendite. Ebbe fama di dotto giureconsulto Angelo de Pondo di Scala dottore in ambo le leggi, milite, consigliere, avvocato de' poveri e famigliare di Re Carlo II. Guglielmo fu assessore presso il giustiziere dell'Abruzzo nel 1292. In Scala questa famiglia si estinse nei Coppola verso al fine del XV secolo. Un ramo di essa erasi trapiantato nel XIII secolo in Trani e in Brindisi, e di là a Nardò ove si estinse nel XV secolo. Giovanniccio de Pando di Scala a fu maestro portolano e procuratore di Principato e Terra di Lavoro nel 1287 e quindi barone di Stingo nelle pertinenze di Brindisi nel 1292. Donato de
