Bartolomeo, professore di anatomia nell'Università di Pavia, fu creato cavaliere dell'Impero Austriaco nel 1843. Il Litta nelle sua opera " Famiglie celebri italiane in foglio, e con lui gli autori concordemente, essere questa una nobile famiglia Lombarda. Nei primi decenni del 1100 in seguito ad un accordo, le quattro classi nobili e cittadine milanesi dei visconti, dei capitani ,dei valvassori (subfeudatari) e dei militi del popolo, costituirono, retto da consoli, il Comune Signorile di Milano che sottraendosi poco a poco alla giursdizione del vescovo separò nettamente i due poteri ecclesiastico e civile. Le famiglie cittadine erano in gran parte di ceto popolare e provenienti dalla società della Motta ch'ebbe vita sin dal 1036 in opposizione alla nobiltà. Tra queste il Guasco di Bisio elenca questa famiglia che si trasferì in quei secoli a Milano acquisendone la cittadinanza e ben presto rinomanza, alti uffici di comando e di responsabilità.
