Assai antico ed illustre casato le cui prime, seppur frammentarie, notizie compaiono nel 1157, ovvero nel "Liber Iurium" I, 198 dell'Arch. di St. di Genova, dal momento che in un atto del 30 agosto Guido Guerra, conte di Ventimiglia, presta giuramento al comune di Genova ed in atto vi sono tra i testi degli Pantico e degli Antici. Guglielmo Pantico e suo cognato Gosberto della Torre, tutti e due di Castelnuovo Scr., il 16 ottobre 1188 vendono terreni al monastero di Rivalta (Cartari di Rivalta I, 181) e proprietà del primo confinano con beni dei quali il 15 aprile 1192 i coniugi Guilengo cedono ogni loro diritto ai canonici di Tortona (Carte Capit., I 147); lo stesso è teste in istrumento del 5 febbraio 1193 con cui Enrico Fassio di Castelnuovo vende terre al suddetto monastero (Cartari di Rivalta I, 181 e II, 96); Gugliemo e suo figlio Robaldo
