Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Philippe, sénéchal de Poitou en 1178 marié à Hameline de Baupréau, dame de la Hamelinière; Geoffroy, évêque de Nantes en 1199, mort en 1213; Hardouin se croisa en 1190; (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Philippe, marié vers 1256 à Nicole de Machecoul, dame du Boisrouault, rend aveu en 1289 au baron de Champtoceaux pour le fief de le Hamelinière; Olivier, abbé de Blanchecouronne en 1375; Pierre capitaine de Saint-Florent-sur-Loire pour René d'Anjou, en 1436; Pierre, fils du précédent, marié à Catherine de Savonnières, capitaine de Saint-Florent en 1465; Jean capitaine de Clisson en 1477; Jeanne, fille d'honneur de Marguerite d'Orléans comtesse d'Étampes, puis de Marguerite, duchesse de Bretagne de 1465 à 1469; autre Jeanne, fille d'honneur de Marguerite de Foix en 1471; Hardi chevalier de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, tué au siège de Rhodes en 1480; Jean, maréchal de bataille à la journée de Pavie en 1525; trois chevaliers de l'ordre de 1525 à 1622; un président de la noblesse par élection, aux États de Vitré en 1706.
