La famiglia è originaria di Pacciano, castello ed ora comune nella provincia di Perugia, dove prese dimora nel XV secolo e dove un Cesare sostenne cariche cittadine sul cadere del 1300. Fu fregiata del titolo baronale, ottenuto nell'anno 1834 per concessione pontificia da un Fabio di Nicola per sè e per i suoi successori. Niccolò nel 1569 combattè strenuamente sotto il duca di Guisa all'assedio di Poitiers e a quello di Famagosta e morì governatore nell'Isola di Candia al servizio della signoria di Venezia. Fabio di Leonardo, militò sotto Giov. Matteo Bourbon di Sorbello nel 1568. Pompeo di Curzio morì in Ungheria nella guerra del 1595. Nelle dignità ecclesiastiche si segnalarono mons. Ottavio morto nel 1658, protonotario apostolico e don Cristoforo che fu abate cassinese. Dottissimo nelle lettere e nelle scienze fu un P. Fabio, gesuita, autore di molte svariatissime opere, alcune delle quali si conservano tuttavia inedite nella
