Ancient and noble Lazio family, of clear and ancestral virtue, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. The origin of this cognomination, to say the least of illustrious genealogists, should be sought in a nickname linked to the profession of "who made pancere, cuirasses", probably carried out by a, today unknown, progenitor. According to some heraldic reconstructions, this family would be of the same agnation as the Panziroli of Rome and this would explain why according to some they would have the same blazon.
